“Imagine a world in which we’ve free access to all the music we want, whenever we want it, and wherever we want it,” said Jimmy Iovine, Apple’s music advisor. “There’s no reason we couldn’t do it. So we went out and did it.”

The comparison of the water quality of the Aechmea melicoides oases and surrounding terrestrial (edge) habitats was achieved with a set of physicochemical parameters and stable isotope analysis. The mean distance between the oases and the terrestrial habitat was 18.5 m. The water quality ranged from saline to freshwater with a salinity higher than that of the terrestrial habitat (0.75‰) in most of the sites. Dissolved oxygen and conductivity were higher in the terrestrial habitat. Fe, Zn and Mn concentrations were also higher in the terrestrial habitat. The stable isotopes of water (H and O) and sediments (δ18O and δ18P) were different in both habitats. This work provides evidence that water quality in the oases is not similar to that of the surrounding terrestrial habitat. This work may also be useful for conservation work where anthropogenic pressure in the terrestrial habitat is a constant concern.
We do want to avoid pitfalls in our R interface and will therefore require several changes before we can use the operators. Before we can commit to it we will have to have a second opinion from the R team. I would prefer to involve them a bit earlier than they have to be prepared for a possible implementation. 827ec27edc
